If you haven't seen the two-DVD set, "The Impressionists", you don't know what you're missing!

I rented it from Netflix and absolutely loved it. It is an enactment of the lives of Monet, Renoir, Manet, Cezanne, Degas, and other Impressionist painters living at that time around Paris. Fascinating and eye-opening!

This beautiful view of the Hudson River was painted from a photo I took. I love the look of the Hudson Highlands as the trees lose their leaves. They take on the most beautiful pinky-violet color until the greens of summer re-emerge. I have done an 18×24″ painting of this scene as well.

Jaime,
I notice you are using the Golden Open Acrylics. I live quite close to where they are made, and have often thought of buying them. I use traditional acrylic.

I wonder if you would tell us a bit about the nature of the Opens vs. traditional acrylics and oils? How long do they stay wet on the canvas and palette? Do you have to mist them? Anything else you may have noticed about them would be great. Thanks!

Something to say?
